Protect LGBTQ+ Rights and Stop Anti-Queer Legislation

To: Rep. Andrews, Gov. Whitmer, Sen. Nesbitt

From: A verified voter in Stevensville, MI

October 5

The data showing fewer people coming out isn't evidence that fewer people are queer — it's evidence that your policies are making it dangerous to be honest about who you are. When the government targets LGBTQ+ people through legislation, visibility drops because survival instincts kick in. That's not a trend to celebrate. That's a warning sign. I need you to actively oppose anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and use your platform to make clear that queer people are welcome and protected in this state. Silence from elected officials reads as endorsement. The community is watching, and so are the voters who care about whether their neighbors, family members, and colleagues can live openly without fear of government-sanctioned discrimination.
