I am writing to demand that Congress finally and unequivocally speak out against President Trump’s ongoing pattern of childish, demeaning, and deeply unpresidential name-calling. This behavior is beneath the dignity of the office he holds, and it demeans the entire country in the process.
In recent public remarks and social media posts, President Trump has resorted to insulting Americans and public officials with terms such as “piggy,” “retard,” “stupid,” “low IQ,” and other juvenile, derogatory language that has absolutely no place in our political discourse. These are not slip-ups or one-off moments—they are part of a deliberate pattern of personal attacks meant to humiliate, distract, and divide.
Congress cannot remain silent while the President of the United States behaves in a manner that would be unacceptable in any school, workplace, or household across this nation. If ordinary Americans would face consequences for this kind of harassment, surely the President must not be allowed to normalize it from the highest office in the land.
This is not about partisanship—it is about standards, leadership, and basic decency. It is about the example we set for our children, for our allies, and for the world. When the President resorts to name-calling instead of policy arguments, it degrades our democracy and weakens our national character.
I demand that Congress, both parties, and every elected member publicly affirm that this behavior is unacceptable and unbecoming of any leader, let alone a President. Silence is complicity. You owe the American people something better than quiet acceptance of schoolyard insults from the Oval Office.
Speak out. Condemn this conduct. Restore the dignity of our government.
The country is watching.
