Regarding Venezuela: Does Congress Have a Role?

To: Sen. Hickenlooper, Rep. Boebert, Sen. Bennet

From: A verified voter in Loveland, CO

January 4

I find it really interesting that Juan Orlando Hernandez got a pardon for the same criminal behavior that Trump just used to justify kidnapping Nicolas Maduro and destabilising an entire sovereign nation. Neither of these dictators are decent people, but the hypocrisy is so blatant it’s painful. It’s hard to believe we still live in a democracy when it’s all so blatantly corrupt and pay-to-play. Last time I checked the Constitution was very specific about Congress having the power to declare war. Is Congress planning to do anything about this situation, or is the president now our king in all but name? Let us know, I really miss those days when the United States Constitution defined the powers and limitations of democratic government.
