Support H.Con.Res. 86 and vote to enforce the War Powers Resolution. Trump has now resumed strikes against Iran after the ceasefire collapsed, again without congressional authorization. That's more than 100 days of military operations conducted without the approval the War Powers Act of 1973 explicitly requires. The administration's claim that a temporary ceasefire restarted the 60-day clock is a legal fiction designed to sidestep Congress, and the Senate should reject it.
The House passed H.Con.Res. 86 on June 3rd with bipartisan support. The Senate must follow. This war has already cost taxpayers billions, destabilized global energy markets, and kept U.S. naval forces deployed around the Strait of Hormuz with no clear end in sight. Congress needs to hold hearings on the administration's justification for this new wave of strikes and make clear that no further military action proceeds without explicit congressional authorization.
