Opposition to the Nomination of Casey Means for U.S. Surgeon General

To: Rep. Spartz, Sen. Young, Sen. Banks

From: A verified voter in Westfield, IN

February 26

Dear Senator/Congressman, I am writing as your constituent to express my strong opposition to the nomination of Casey Means for United States Surgeon General. The Surgeon General is the nation’s chief public health authority and must possess unquestioned qualifications, deep clinical and public health experience, and the ability to communicate evidence-based guidance to the American people. This position requires demonstrated leadership within established medical, scientific, and public health institutions, especially at a time when trust in national health guidance is fragile. Based on Dr. Means’ background and professional record, I do not believe she meets the standard expected for this critical role. Confirming a nominee whose qualifications and readiness for federal public health leadership are widely questioned risks further eroding public trust and weakening the credibility of national health guidance. The country cannot afford another disaster nomination to a position that directly influences national health policy, emergency response, and public confidence. The Surgeon General must be selected based on proven expertise, institutional experience, and a clear record of advancing evidence-based medicine. I urge you to oppose the confirmation of Casey Means and advocate for a nominee whose qualifications clearly align with the responsibility and gravity of this office.
