Texas used Texas taxpayer money to fly undocumented immigrants to Chicago multiple times.
Now the state is using Texas taxpayer money to send our National Guard troops there to address a fabricated non-crisis.
This National Guard deployment is a solution in search of a problem, for low-quality political theater.
Why is the TEXAS National Guard being deployed to another state? A state where the governor and the city’s mayor say the Illinois Guard isn’t needed, much less the Texas Guard. To a city where the governor and the mayor explicitly asked Guard troops to not be sent?
How does this serve Texas taxpayers who are funding this ridiculous charade? In a few months, Texas Guard members will need Chicago-grade winter coats. Will we, the Texas taxpayers, be funding that as well? Or will our Guard members be forced to endure that bitter cold and wind
without appropriate clothing?
Our tax dollars should be spent in Texas. To improve our roads. To upgrade our flood response and protection. To fix the many issues with our Child Protective Services. To bolster our electric grid. To protect our own southern border.
My wife and I urge you to stop this political spectacle and invest Texas’ tax dollars in ways that will benefit Texans.
