Why is Congress ceding it's power??

To: Sen. Wyden, Sen. Merkley

What is going on with your Republican colleagues?? What is their reasoning behind ceding their Constitutional power to provide checks and balances to the president's power? Mr. Trump himself admitted that he does not need to follow laws - that he makes decisions based on his "morals". The Constitution is very clear about what roles Congress and the judiciary have so that a president doesn't have unlimited power - power that is based in nothing more than what he feels like in a particular moment. It is shocking that the Senate has voted to remove IT'S OWN POWER in governing this country. As the chips continue to fall, the ones in Congress who chose to cede their power will be remembered in history as the ones who failed democracy and destroyed our country. It's a terrifying time in the United States. Why can your colleagues not see that?
