I am writing to express my strong opposition to any effort to rename the Dallas North Tollway after President Donald Trump. The Dallas North Tollway is a vital piece of North Texas infrastructure that serves millions of residents, workers, and visitors. Its name reflects the region it serves and has done so for decades. Renaming it for a political figure would unnecessarily inject partisan politics into a public asset that belongs to all Texans, regardless of political affiliation. At a time when Texans are concerned about rising costs, infrastructure needs, public education, healthcare access, and property taxes, I do not believe renaming a major tollway should be a legislative priority. Taxpayer resources and legislative attention should be focused on solving real problems that affect Texans' daily lives. Whether one supports or opposes President Trump, public infrastructure should unite communities rather than serve as a political statement. The Dallas North Tollway is already an established and recognizable part of North Texas. There is no compelling public benefit to changing its name. I urge you to oppose any legislation that would rename the Dallas North Tollway and instead focus on issues that improve the lives of the people you were elected to serve. Thank you for your time and consideration. I would appreciate knowing your position on this proposal.
