Concern Over Federal Employee Layoffs and Impact on Wyoming Communities

To: Sen. Lummis, Rep. Hageman, Sen. Barrasso

From: A constituent in Jackson, WY

February 18

I am writing to express my concern about the recent wave of federal employee layoffs in Wyoming. Thousands of Wyomingites, many of whom dedicated years to federal agencies like the U.S. Forest Service, have been abruptly dismissed, leaving not only workers devastated but also the future of our public services at risk. The lack of transparency around these layoffs is deeply troubling. Critical positions have been eliminated without clear explanations, or considerations for how our state’s resources, particularly public lands, will suffer as a result. From trail maintenance to wildlife management, the cuts will be felt by every community across Wyoming. I urge you to investigate these layoffs, advocate for those affected, and push for a more accountable approach to such significant decisions. Wyoming deserves more than silence and uncertainty from our government in these trying times. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response and action on behalf of the people of Wyoming.
