I am writing to ask you to stand up, for once in your career, to a President who will stop at nothing to keep the reins of power, in spite of the Constitution. First, he reaches out to Texas and other red state governors, including our own, to redraw the electoral maps even though this is traditionally done after the census. Texas finally agreed. Then Vladimir Putin whispers in his ear about how mail-in ballots are bad. So he is going to write an (unconstitutional) executive order to end mail in voting and voting machines, even though he has used mail-in voting himself! The Constitution gives the power to run elections to the States. Why doesn’t someone like you in the halls of power tell him these things? And since when do we take advice (and hold meetings) with a guy the International Criminal Court calls a war criminal? A few days after that Volodymyr Zelenskyy says they haven’t been able to hold elections since they are at war, and President Trump says something like, "So if we are actively at war, we can’t have elections? That's great!" No, it isn’t great. It is scary to even have a government official suggest this, never mind the President of the United States! You have taken an oath: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God." But you are not supporting or defending the Constitution from a man who seeks to evade and destroy constitutional protections, including birthright citizenship, due process, habeas corpus, as well as imposing crippling tariffs, (which is the duty of the Congress.) Prices on everything are skyrocketing and nobody is doing a thing about it! I would literally bet my very life that if a Democratic President was trying to do a fraction of these things, you would be actively trying to remove him from office, yet all we hear from you is crickets, because the guy doing this is a Republican and he might turn on you. This is the darkest time in American history and you are standing on the sidelines allowing it to happen for a President with a 38% approval, 60% disapproval rating! Do something for this state, our country, and the whole bloody world!
