An execution livestream is a national disgrace

To: Sen. Capito, Sen. Justice, Rep. Moore

From: A constituent in Buckhannon, WV

October 9

I am disgusted by the Pentagon’s plan to livestream Nidal Hasan’s execution by firing squad. America should never turn a human death into a public spectacle. His horrific crimes do not give our government permission to abandon human decency. Broadcasting an execution serves an appetite for cruelty and demeans the nation doing it. Calling that strength makes it even more shameful. I demand that you publicly oppose this plan, insist that the Pentagon cancel the broadcast, and support legislation prohibiting federal execution livestreams. Honoring victims should never mean making a spectacle of another death. Your silence would be complicity. Speak up.
