"Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” I probably don't need to tell you who said that, but I'll give you the reference in case you need to look it up: Matthew 25:40. I think we reference this scripture when we're trying to give ourselves a metaphorical pat on the back-- we feed the hungry, we fed the poor, we visited the widow. We served Jesus! Put what about the reverse? What if we beat the poor? What if we stole from the hungry? Separated the widow from her family? Brutalized a parent in front of their child? Christ didn't say "ye only did it unto me if it was good." He said "ye did it unto me." Full stop. How can you reconcile the brutal and inhumane actions of ICE in Minnesota and across the nation with Christ's teachings? It's simple: you can't. It is up to you as a person in power, a representative of the people, and as a professed Christian to stop ICE. I urge you to vote NO on any Homeland Security funding bill until ICE has been seriously reformed, reduced funding, and trained properly. Your constituents are paying attention to the choices you make. So is Someone Else.
