demolition of the East Wing is unacceptable

To: Sen. Justice, Rep. Moore, Sen. Capito

From: A constituent in Buckhannon, WV

October 23

The demolition of the East Wing is unacceptable. The White House belongs to the American people, not to any one family or political party. Any changes to its structure or design should follow preservation law, include input from historians, and be fully transparent to the public. Ripping out parts of this historic building without clear plans or preservation oversight is disrespectful to our history and our taxpayers. The East Wing has stood for generations as part of our national story — not a personal vanity project. I’m asking you to demand full disclosure about this project: • What exactly is being demolished? • Who approved it? • What preservation reviews have been done? We have a right to know what’s happening to our White House.
