I'm writing to demand that you oppose any legislative provision that blocks state-level regulation of AI. Congress should be working to protect our safety and privacy from the unknown risks of AI, not prioritizing the self-serving needs of big tech corporations and billionaires. The President should not use executive orders either to try to make this happen. I urge you to do everything in your power to prevent a ban on AI regulations. In fact you should do more to investigate and address the harmful impacts of AI-from the dumbing down of humans, to the enormous water and energy use, to the pollution of the areas in which the AI data centers are located. If we don’t act now to regulate or stop AI it is likely to put climate change and environmental damage into hyper speed.
