Stop the Assault on Federal Employees and the American People

To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt

From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO

October 26

I am writing to express my outrage at Russell Vought, Scott Capore, and this administration’s continued assault on the American people, federal employees, and the government institutions that serve us. The latest USDA reorganization developments are another disturbing example of an administration seemingly determined to push forward despite the consequences for hardworking Americans. Federal employees are human beings, not disposable pawns in a political agenda. They are parents, spouses, and dedicated public servants who deserve dignity and respect, not constant uncertainty, intimidation, financial hardship, and psychological trauma. Russell Vought has publicly described wanting federal employees to be “traumatically affected.” This is appalling. Deliberately destabilizing the workforce weakens agencies, destroys institutional knowledge, drives experienced employees out of public service, and threatens the essential programs millions of Americans depend upon. The consequences extend far beyond federal workers to seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, farmers, and families across this country. The continued destruction and dismantling of government agencies is unacceptable. These institutions belong to the American people. They should not be treated as political instruments to reshape according to one administration’s ideological agenda. Furthermore, court orders and congressional authority must be respected. No administration is above the law. I am tired of watching ordinary Americans bear the consequences of policies that create chaos and uncertainty while those in positions of power continue to advance their own agendas. The government should serve its citizens, not intimidate its workforce, undermine public services, and erode public trust. As my elected representative, your responsibility is to the people who put you in office, not one man or one administration. I expect you to demonstrate independence, demand accountability from Russell Vought and the officials responsible, defend federal employees, and protect the integrity of our government agencies. The November midterm elections will give Americans an opportunity to express their views on the direction of this country. If elected officials want to retain the public’s trust, they must start listening to their constituents and serving their interests rather than offering unquestioning loyalty to those in power. This is shameful, it is unacceptable, and it is not the America the people want to live in. I expect meaningful action and a substantive response explaining what you intend to do to address these concerns.
