Vote no on Todd Blanche's confirmation as Attorney General. His confirmation hearing is July 15–16, and his record makes clear he has no business leading the Department of Justice.
Blanche spent years as Trump's personal criminal defense attorney before being handed control of the DOJ — and he has governed it accordingly. He endorsed deploying ICE officers to polling places, launched a "Civil Rights Fraud Initiative" to pressure organizations into eliminating anti-discrimination programs, and fired a 15-year DOJ veteran for truthfully telling a court that Kilmar Abrego Garcia was wrongfully deported. That fired attorney has since filed a whistleblower complaint alleging senior officials directed subordinates to defy court orders and lie to judges. Blanche also moved to erase the seditious conspiracy convictions of Proud Boys and Oath Keepers leaders from January 6, and personally interviewed convicted child sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell alone — no prosecutors, no law enforcement present — after which she was transferred to a minimum-security camp.
The Attorney General oversees voting rights, civil rights enforcement, hate crimes, and VAWA. That role demands independence. Blanche has publicly declared Trump has a "right" and "duty" to direct DOJ investigations of specific individuals, trashing 50 years of post-Watergate norms. Reject this nomination.
