Vote against the Republican's continuing resolution bill

March 12
The Senate Democrats must reject the continuing budget resolution proposed by the Republicans. Approving this legislation would enable the Trump regime's unconstitutional dismantling of federal agencies and unauthorized reallocation of congressionally appropriated funds. The proposed bill maintains flat spending levels while hiking military expenditures and cutting the District of Columbia's budget, revealing misguided priorities. Moreover, the administration has already crippled agencies like USAID, the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection, and the EPA's efforts to address pollution in disadvantaged communities. Passing this resolution grants a blank check to further this destructive overreach at the expense of vital public services like Social Security, Medicare, education, and environmental protections that Americans depend on. Senate Democrats have the power to hold the administration accountable by making continued government funding contingent on the president and his cabinet abiding by existing laws, respecting Congress's constitutional power of the purse, and fully funding intended programs and services. Voting no forces a reckoning over the administration's unacceptable subversion of democratic processes and institutions. Failing to take this stand enables and perpetuates the wanton undermining of the federal government that serves the people.
