After nearly three months of a complete aid blockade in Gaza, the humanitarian situation has become catastrophic, with nearly 500,000 people facing acute hunger according to UN agencies. Children are suffering the most severe consequences, with many experiencing severe malnutrition and starvation. Local hospitals are overwhelmed and lack essential medical supplies, leading to preventable deaths. Despite this crisis, only a small amount of aid has been allowed to enter Gaza recently, which aid workers describe as "a drop in the ocean" compared to the dire needs. The ongoing conflict and blockade are denying the people of Gaza their basic human rights and access to food, medicine, and essential services. This is an unacceptable violation of international humanitarian law. Urgent action is needed to ensure the free flow of humanitarian aid and address the root causes of this man-made crisis. All parties must prioritize the protection of civilians, especially children, and work towards a just and lasting resolution that upholds human rights and human dignity.
