I am writing as a Colorado constituent to respectfully ask that you exercise strong congressional oversight regarding our nation’s current military operations and any future requests for additional funding related to this conflict. I understand that decisions involving national security are complex, and I deeply appreciate the sacrifices made by the men and women serving our country. My concern is not with our service members, but with ensuring they have clear leadership, a defined mission, and a sustainable plan. I ask that Congress carefully evaluate any requests for additional funding and seek greater transparency from the Department of Defense and the Administration regarding the long-term strategy. Specifically, I would appreciate answers to questions such as: * What are the long-term objectives and exit strategy for this operation? * Why have deployment timelines and end dates appeared uncertain for many of those serving? * Why has there been hesitation to rotate forces on a predictable schedule? * Why is there such heavy reliance on the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, particularly fighter and tanker units, for what appears to be an extended mission? Many of these deployments occurred on very short notice, and there are reports that deployment end dates remain uncertain. Our service members and their families deserve as much clarity and predictability as possible while carrying out the missions our nation asks of them. I respectfully ask that you advocate for transparency, accountability, and a clearly articulated long-term plan before authorizing additional commitments of resources or personnel. Above all, I hope Congress will continue to ensure that the extraordinary sacrifices made by our military members are matched by clear strategic objectives and responsible oversight.
