I am writing to bring your urgent attention to the case of Tyler Thompson, 21-year-old American citizen from West Jordan, Utah, who has been wrongfully arrested and detained in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Tyler is a peaceful and hard-working citizen who on vacation with a friend’s family to DRC only to be found in the midst of a failed coup attempt towards the DRC government. There is evidence that he has been beaten & detained. I urge you to take action for Tyler's release, engaging with the embassy, Congolese authorities, and any other diplomatic support you can to expedite Tyler safe return to the United States.
