Per NOTUS Friday, Swalwell has started an “AI” campaign fundraising software company called Findraiser while in office and several of his colleagues have become paid clients. It’s inconceivable that his being in office hasn’t enriched the company beyond what an unlanded competitor could expect, and that he is not indirectly profiting from the company or planning to profit from it later.
AI is terrible at what it purports to do and great at driving up electricity prices, computer prices, and climate change. I personally have had to work with political campaigns with something called Calltime.ai, and although it wasn’t using LLMs it was also unready for prime time and gave incorrect information about donors and prospective donors. This Findraiser thing is bound to be exponentially worse however, because LLMs are fundamentally incapable of giving “intelligent” answers - we’re talking about a supercharged version of the auto-correct on the keyboard I’m typing this with.
Swalwell has developed a pattern of being all talk and no actual values - paid trip to Qatar, not showing up for votes, now using his office to push an AI scam (maybe he actually believes in AI and that might be even worse). This guy is supposedly a frontrunner to be the next Governor of California - you have an ethical duty to inform people of his ethical failings and unfitness for office.
