I am writing to express my strong support for universal healthcare or, at the very least, meaningful healthcare reform. The financial burden of medical expenses is one of the leading causes of bankruptcy in the United States. I strongly believe that healthcare is a fundamental human right, and no one should have to choose between their health and financial security. While universal healthcare may require significant changes to our current system, there are also steps we can take to improve affordability and accessibility in the short term. These include expanding Medicaid, creating a public option for insurance, capping out-of-pocket costs, and implementing price transparency to reduce the influence of profit-driven motives on the healthcare system. Reforming healthcare is essential for the well-being of every American, and it will improve the nation’s overall productivity, health outcomes, and quality of life. I urge you to consider the urgent need for universal healthcare or comprehensive reforms to ensure that all Americans have access to affordable, high-quality healthcare.
