Reject $2 billion costs for renaming Dept of Defense

To: Sen. Padilla, Rep. Lieu, Sen. Schiff

From: A constituent in Redondo Beach, CA

November 14

$2 billion. That’s how much it will cost taxpayers to change the name of the Department of Defense to the Department of War, a rebranding endorsed by President Trump’s executive order back in September. The tally incorporates the cost of changing signs, letterhead, identification cards, and a wide variety of other items, including updating the code for all departmental websites. Changing the department’s name requires an act of Congress, so it’s not set in stone just yet—but setting it in stone is going to cost a fortune. People in the US are hungry; just give it to the homeless. Stop giving the Pentagon blank checks.
