Stop deportation without due process

To: Sen. Banks, Sen. Young, Rep. Carson

From: A constituent in Indianapolis, IN

April 16

I am writing to express my deep concern about the deportation of asylum seekers to El Salvador’s CECOT prison, where many are held without charges under abusive conditions. The USA I love is so much better than this! We can absolutely hold the rule of law, prosecute gang members, and keep our citizens safe without taking away due process rights or subjecting anyone — particularly anyone who has committed no crime — to such horrific conditions. I urge you to call for their return and for an investigation into violation of due process. I fear that treating people this way will only increase worldwide resentment toward the USA — something that makes us all less safe. As a Christian, as a mother, and as a US citizen, I beg you to do right by these men.
