The Trump administration’s new AI Action Plan includes a quiet but alarming line:
“Revise the NIST AI Risk Management Framework to eliminate references to misinformation, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and climate change.”
This may sound technical. But if implemented, it would block federal AI systems from addressing racism, climate science, or disinformation. That’s not “deregulation,” it’s forced ignorance.
Imagine asking a government-backed AI about climate change and getting, “I have no data on that.” Or worse, “Climate change is a hoax.” Not because it’s true, but because the government edited the data.
This is about more than AI. It’s about who gets to decide what’s real. And it sets a precedent: if you can silence truth in AI, you can reshape public knowledge without ever passing a law.
Please oppose this revision. We need AI systems that reflect reality, not political agendas.
