I’m writing as a constituent to express strong support for continued federal funding for public media, including NPR and PBS, and to urge you to oppose any proposal to eliminate this essential support.
I listen to NPR every morning. It’s one of the few news sources I trust to deliver information that is carefully researched, thoughtfully presented, and refreshingly neutral. NPR doesn’t sensationalize; it informs. That’s how I stay connected to what’s happening in the world—and I know I’m not alone.
Although I live in a large city where there are many ways to access news, I’m deeply concerned for people in rural and underserved areas who rely on public media as one of their few (or only) sources of in-depth news, education, and cultural programming. Cutting $1.1 billion in funding would be a devastating blow to the people and communities who need it most.
NPR and PBS represent one of the best returns on investment in civic education, cultural understanding, and nonpartisan journalism. I urge you to defend this vital public good.
Thank you for your time and for representing our community.
