I am writing to you today out of deep concern for the state of our democracy and the safety of the American people. Reports of American troops being deployed into our own cities are alarming, dangerous, and profoundly un-American. The use of military force against civilians is something we condemn in authoritarian regimes — it has no place in the United States of America. I urge you to take immediate action to demand that President Trump withdraw all federal troops and armed forces currently operating in American communities. Our Constitution is clear: the military is not to be used against the American people. This misuse of power erodes public trust, threatens civil liberties, and escalates tensions at a time when unity and accountability are most needed. Furthermore, I implore you to take every possible measure to prevent the invocation of the Insurrection Act. That act was never intended to give any president unchecked authority to turn our military inward on our own citizens. Allowing such a precedent would set this nation on a perilous path — one that could silence dissent, criminalize protest, and dismantle the foundations of democracy itself. Members of Congress took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States — not any one leader or party. I am asking you to honor that oath now. Speak out publicly. Use your legislative power. Do not remain silent while the American people are treated as enemies within their own country. Our soldiers are trained to protect us from foreign threats — not to occupy our neighborhoods. The strength of this nation has always been found in its people, its laws, and its unwavering commitment to justice. Please, stand with the American people and ensure that the military is never again used as a weapon against them. Thank you for your service and your attention to this urgent matter.
