Request for Congressional Investigation into Trump’s Illegal Market Activities
To: Pres. Trump
From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO
April 13, 2025
I am writing to you as a concerned citizen and reporting what I believe to be illegal and unethical manipulation of the stock market by President Donald Trump. Specifically, he appears to have used his public platform and political influence to benefit associates and insiders financially. One method involved the deliberate toggling of tariffs — imposing and removing them in a way that created artificial volatility in the market. These actions allowed individuals with prior knowledge to profit from market swings.
Additionally, Trump made a Truth Social post encouraging the public to buy stocks, claiming it was a “great time to buy.” Following this statement, there was a significant influx of stock purchases that aligned with gains for certain wealthy insiders, raising concerns about coordinated trading based on non-public information.
President Trump publicly boasted in the Oval Office about how his actions had enriched financiers such as Charles Schwab and others, suggesting intentional manipulation of public policy for private gain. This conduct raises serious questions about insider trading, abuse of power, and the use of high office for the benefit of a privileged few.
Given the pattern of activity, I am concerned that these actions may constitute violations of securities laws, including provisions related to market manipulation and insider trading. I respectfully request that the SEC investigate this matter to determine whether any laws were broken and whether any individuals should be held accountable for unlawful trading practices or abuse of political power for financial gain.
