Government shutdown

To: Sen. Wyden, Sen. Merkley, Rep. Hoyle

From: A constituent in Eugene, OR

December 20

So after 14 years of federal service I am sitting here in a parking lot wondering if I will see a paycheck before February. A week before Christmas. With 4 kids at home I have no idea how I am paying Januarys mortgage. I am not writing you to capitulate to VP Trump however. I am asking you stand up and fight! Democrats must get out there and publicly shame Republicans, stand up for working families as well as everyone on Medicare, Social security, Medicaid, SNAP and receiving VA benefits. All of you are my elected representatives and I want to see you on the news, in the newspaper on social media explaining the importance of what we are fighting against and more importantly what we are fighting FOR! I am one person, and somewhat hamstrung because apparently the Hatch Act still applies to some people. Plenty of people are feeling helpless; not just federal employees. We need 1) a goal, 2) a brief, coherent message 3) a path to that goal. You have our support, and the pulpit and resources to make that happen. I urge you to make use of your platform and resources to their fullest extent possible to motivate people to work towards that goal. Thank you for your time.
