The school voucher program allocates $1 billion in taxpayer money to pay $10,000 per student to attend private school. There is no evidence vouchers would lower costs of private school which would continue to cater to the affluent. At the end of the day, 5.1 million Texans are at risk of hunger, but the school voucher program would allow someone like Elon Musk to claim up to $1.2 million to send his children to private schools.
