I am writing to urge you to protect the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and strongly oppose any budget cuts to its critical fruit and vegetable benefits.
I am deeply concerned that the proposed spending bills would reduce the monthly Cash Value Benefit (CVB) for produce. Reducing these vouchers forces families to choose cheaper, less nutritious options. This directly harms the health and development of young children, pregnant women, and new mothers in our community.
WIC is a proven investment that reduces healthcare costs and improves birth outcomes. I ask that you fully fund WIC and reject any rollbacks to these essential fruit and vegetable benefits. Thank you for your time, service, and consideration of our community's health.
