Block Data Centers on Federal Public Lands

To: Sen. Padilla, Sen. Schiff, Rep. McClintock

From: A verified voter in El Dorado Hills, CA

October 2

Block any approval of data centers on federal public lands including Project Beehive, Valar Atomics' proposal to industrialize more than 9,000 acres of BLM land near Price, Utah with 456 small nuclear reactors, nuclear fuel production, and nuclear waste storage. This is not development. It's a corporate takeover of land that belongs to all of us. The water problem alone should end this conversation. The American West is in chronic water scarcity. Nuclear reactors require enormous volumes of water to operate. So do data centers. That water is already spoken for to support wildlife and ecosystems and downstream farms and towns. It does not belong to corporations extracting short-term profits. There are already 16 proposed data center sites on public lands in the federal pipeline, and Trump's July 2025 executive order is pushing agencies to open up more. This has to stop! Co-sponsor Sen. Wyden's legislation to prohibit the development, sale, or transfer of federally owned public lands for data centers and associated infrastructure.
