Smart Investment in America’s Future: Pass the America the Beautiful Act

To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Carter

From: A constituent in Leander, TX

June 24

I am writing as a constituent, taxpayer, and outdoor enthusiast to urge you to support and pass the bipartisan America the Beautiful Act (S. 2584). Americans deeply cherish our public lands. From national parks and wildlife refuges to forests, rivers, and trails, these places are part of our national identity. They are where families gather, veterans find peace, children discover nature, and communities build lasting memories. We want these treasured landscapes protected, maintained, and accessible for future generations—not neglected because Congress failed to act. The Legacy Restoration Fund, created through the Great American Outdoors Act of 2020, has been one of the most successful conservation investments in recent history. However, its funding authorization expired in 2025. Congress must act now to ensure critical maintenance and restoration projects continue. The America the Beautiful Act would: • Reauthorize the Legacy Restoration Fund through 2033 • Increase annual funding from $1.9 billion to $2 billion • Expand eligibility to include the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service • Prioritize projects with at least a 15% non-federal match • Increase transparency and accountability Supporting this legislation is not only good conservation policy—it is smart fiscal policy. Studies consistently show that every $1 invested in public lands generates approximately $14 in economic activity. Public lands support a thriving $1.2 trillion outdoor recreation economy, sustain millions of American jobs, attract tourism dollars to local communities, and help businesses large and small prosper. Few federal investments produce this kind of return. Maintaining public lands today prevents far more expensive repairs tomorrow while strengthening local economies and preserving America’s natural heritage. This should not be a partisan issue. Americans across the political spectrum love their public lands and want them protected. Investing in these lands is an investment in our economy, our communities, and future generations. Please support and swiftly pass the America the Beautiful Act (S. 2584). The places Americans love are counting on your leadership.
