Oppose HF 775 – Protect Access to Medication Abortion and Truth in Medical Care
To: Rep. Nunn, Sen. Ernst, Sen. Grassley
From: A constituent in Des Moines, IA
March 9
I am writing to urge you to oppose HF 775, which would restrict access to medication abortion by requiring in-person clinic visits and mandating misleading signage that falsely claims medication abortion can be reversed.
This bill is a direct attack on reproductive healthcare. Restricting access to telemedicine for abortion care disproportionately harms low-income individuals and those who cannot take time off work or travel long distances for care. Additionally, forcing clinics to display scientifically unproven claims undermines medical integrity and patient trust.
Iowa currently permits abortion before six weeks, but HF 775 would make access nearly impossible for many. No legislator should impose unnecessary barriers on healthcare or force medical providers to spread misinformation.
Please let me know your position on this bill, and if you should support it, will you protect safety net programs like SNAP and leased housing to help families support the additional children they were forced to have?
