Justice Alito's display of an upside-down flag, a symbol associated with efforts to overturn the 2020 election, at his residence while hearing cases related to that very issue represents an egregious ethical breach and conflict of interest. This overt partisanship casts serious doubt on his ability to rule impartially on matters concerning the 2020 election, the January 6 insurrection, or Trump's claims of immunity. To preserve any semblance of integrity and public trust in the Supreme Court as an institution, Justice Alito must recuse himself immediately from all such cases. Failure to do so should result in his removal by Chief Justice Roberts to uphold the fundamental principle that no one, not even a Supreme Court justice, is above the law or exempt from ethical obligations. The Senate Judiciary Committee has a duty to investigate this matter swiftly and hold Justice Alito accountable for his unacceptable conduct, including through impeachment if necessary. The American people deserve a Supreme Court that operates with impartiality and adherence to the highest ethical standards, not one compromised by justices openly aligning with insurrectionist forces seeking to undermine democracy.
