I urge you to cosponsor and support the No War Against Iran Act introduced by Senator Sanders. This crucial legislation would prohibit the use of federal funds for any military action against Iran without explicit Congressional authorization, upholding the Constitutional principle that Congress alone has the power to declare war. The strikes by Israel against Iran risk escalating tensions and dragging the United States into another costly and devastating conflict in the Middle East. As Senator Sanders stated, "Our Founding Fathers entrusted the power of war and peace exclusively to the people's elected representatives in Congress, and it is imperative that we make clear that the President has no authority to embark on another costly war without explicit authorization by Congress." The American people do not want another disastrous war that would lead to further loss of life, destabilize the region, and waste trillions more dollars. Congress must reassert its constitutional role by passing this act to prevent an unauthorized war with Iran.
