Demand Investigation Into Voter Data Transfer and Protection of Ohio Voters' Privacy
To: Sen. Moreno, Rep. Joyce, Sen. Husted
From: A constituent in Willoughby, OH
March 11
I'm demanding you take immediate action to investigate Secretary of State Frank LaRose's February 13 transfer of Ohio's complete voter registration database to the Department of Justice. This handover included our full names, dates of birth, addresses, driver's license numbers, and partial Social Security numbers without voter consent or legislative authorization.
This administration is weaponizing the DOJ to collect sensitive personal data on millions of Americans ahead of the midterms. While other states are fighting federal lawsuits to protect their voters' privacy, Ohio simply surrendered our information. LaRose gave away data that could be used for voter intimidation, suppression, or worse.
The Constitution does not grant the executive branch authority to commandeer state voter files for partisan purposes. This violates both our privacy rights and the integrity of our elections. I expect you to publicly oppose this data grab, demand the immediate destruction of Ohio voter data held by the DOJ, and support impeachment proceedings under Article 2 Section 4 of the Constitution against officials who are abusing their power to rig elections. Our democracy cannot survive when those in power manipulate voter information to maintain control.
