Disgusted by Your Support for Data Centers in Michigan
To: Gov. Whitmer
From: A constituent in Ann Arbor, MI
June 16
I am writing to express my deep disappointment and disgust with the way you have handled the data center situation in Michigan, particularly regarding the lawsuit brought against Saline Township, which apparently had your support all along.
This is inexcusable. Michigan’s natural resources are precious, and the people of this state deserve a governor who will fight to protect them, not one who backs corporations looking to exploit our land, water, and communities.
Nobody wants these data centers here. The opposition is widespread and for good reason. These facilities place enormous demands on our water and energy infrastructure, and the communities that bear the burden have made their voices clear.
I have long been a proud supporter of yours. That changes today. I cannot in good conscience continue to support an administration that sides with corporate interests over the people and natural resources of Michigan.
I urge you in the strongest possible terms to reverse course, stand up for Michigan communities, and use your office to protect and not sacrifice our environment.
