Save PSLF

To: Rep. DeLauro, Sen. Murphy, Sen. Blumenthal

From: A constituent in North Haven, CT

May 13

Please email your senators and representatives: I am writing to urge you to repeal the recent changes and attacks on the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. Millions of public servants — including teachers, nurses, social workers, nonprofit employees, military personnel, and first responders — made career and financial decisions based on the promise that PSLF would remain available after years of qualifying public service and loan payments. Changing the rules now unfairly punishes people who have dedicated their lives to serving their communities. Weakening PSLF threatens the financial stability of over 2 million borrowers and undermines recruitment and retention in essential public service careers. At a time when our country already faces shortages in education, healthcare, emergency services, and nonprofit work, Congress should be strengthening support for public servants, not taking it away. PSLF represents a commitment made by the federal government to those who chose service over higher-paying private sector careers. That promise must be honored. I urge you to take immediate action to repeal these harmful changes, protect existing borrowers, and preserve the integrity of the PSLF program for current and future public servants. Please stand with the people who dedicate their careers to serving the American public.
