Protect Election Integrity and Constitutional Authority

To: Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz, Rep. Doggett

From: A constituent in Austin, TX

April 1

I am writing to express serious concern regarding reports that President Trump has issued an executive order attempting to restrict mail in voting. If true, this action raises significant constitutional and legal questions that demand immediate attention from Congress. The Constitution clearly places the authority to regulate elections with the states and with Congress. Any attempt by the executive branch to unilaterally alter or restrict voting methods risks undermining that balance of power and the integrity of our democratic process. Mail in voting plays a critical role in ensuring access to the ballot for millions of Americans, including seniors, people with disabilities, military personnel, and those living in rural or underserved communities. Limiting access to this option without proper legislative authority could disenfranchise voters and erode public trust in elections. I urge Congress to take swift action to review this situation, uphold the Constitution, and ensure that no branch of government oversteps its authority when it comes to the fundamental right to vote. Protecting free and fair elections must remain a nonpartisan priority. Thank you for your time and for your commitment to defending our democratic institutions.
