7,000 jobs have been cut from the Social Security Administration. People cannot get through to offices on the phone lines, the website keeps crashing, and beneficiaries cannot get the service that they require. Meanwhile, DOGE recommends cutting MORE SSA jobs. This is effectively cutting Social Security, a system I have paid into since my teens. I am still years off from being able to retire, and I expect Social Security funds to still be available and accessible to me when that time comes. I do NOT want Social Security to be privatized -- my 401(k) is already tanking, and I need at least my Social Security funds to reliably be there for me. Why are you letting this administration destroy a popular, necessary system that we the people pay into? Hands off Social Security!
