Governor Hochul recently announced she was pushing for more nuclear energy to be built in NYS. This is a mistake. To be clear I'm not anti nuclear energy in the sense that I don't think it's safe or whatever. I think we can get a much better value for our money elsewhere. The price per KW of solar and wind energy has come down drastically. We should be putting our money into solar and wind farms, and also smaller scale applications (think rooftops and parking lots). This is also FAR more in line with the Build Public Renewables Act that was signed into law recently. Because, well, wind and solar are renewable. Nuclear power is not renewable. But the silicon from solar panels, the lithium from batteries, and the aluminum from wind turbines can all be recycled. Please don't waste our taxpayer dollars on a nuclear boondoggle that won't show results for years. Spend that money on wind and solar farms that we will be able to use the energy from far sooner. Honor the BPRA, wind and solar are the future! Let's do this!
