An Open Letter

To: Sen. Bennet, Sen. Hickenlooper

From: A verified voter in Thornton, CO

October 8

I’m writing because I need to know whether you and your colleagues are actually preparing for what is happening right in front of us, or if you’re burying your heads in the sand and hoping it goes away. A convicted election criminal — Tina Peters — was invited to the White House and is now openly proposing seizing ballots nationwide and preparing for civil conflict if the midterms don’t go her way. Her own attorney said it would be “better if we’re going to have a civil war… that it would be martial law with our side in control of the armaments.” That is not fringe chatter. That is not rumor. That is not exaggeration. That is a real plan being discussed inside Trump’s orbit. At the same time, the president has used $12 million in taxpayer funds for propaganda ads glorifying himself, admitted doing it, and only stopped after public backlash. Florida officials illegally wiped his voter information from public records. And he is now openly saying he “can do whatever I want” to political enemies. These are not isolated incidents. These are coordinated, illegal actions that threaten the stability of our elections and the safety of the country. So I’m asking you directly: Are you preparing for this? Or are you ignoring it? Are you developing a response to these illegal actions? Or are you hoping they won’t escalate? Because the people of Colorado deserve to know whether their elected officials are taking this seriously. We deserve to know whether you understand the stakes. And we deserve to know whether you are ready to confront what is clearly coming. I expect a public statement. Silence is not an option.
