Request for Immediate Oversight of EPA’s Approval of PFAS‑Based Pesticide Isocycloseram I am writing to urgently request your intervention regarding the Environmental Protection Agency’s recent approval of isocycloseram, a pesticide containing PFAS “forever chemicals.” This is the fifth newly approved PFAS pesticide, following diflufenican, epyrifenacil, trifludimoxazin, and cyclobutrifluram — a pattern of expanding PFAS use on staple food crops that demands immediate scrutiny. PFAS chemicals are known for their persistence in the environment and their ability to accumulate in soil, water tables, and the human body. The CDC has identified associations between PFAS exposure and kidney cancer, liver damage, immune suppression, and developmental delays in children. Approving yet another PFAS‑based pesticide for use on corn, soy, and wheat directly contradicts national efforts to reduce chronic disease and environmental contamination. The EPA has now approved five new PFAS pesticides for food crops, despite clear CDC warnings about the health risks associated with these chemicals. This decision fundamentally undermines the administration’s stated commitment to “Make America Healthy Again.” It is inconsistent to claim leadership in reducing toxic exposure while simultaneously expanding the use of chemicals known to persist indefinitely in our ecosystem. I respectfully urge you to: Exercise your oversight authority to pause this approval. Initiate a full audit of the EPA’s pesticide‑review process for PFAS‑containing compounds. Prioritize public health by preventing persistent toxins from contaminating our food supply and water resources. Ohio families deserve protection from chemicals that will remain in our environment for generations. I ask you to uphold the mandate you were elected to fulfill and take immediate action to prevent further PFAS contamination in our agricultural system.
