Under no circumstances should the Senate agree to any funding bill that funds ICE. The most recent killings in Minneapolis have made it clear that anyone who still thought the organization's integrity could be salvaged is deluded. ICE is functionally a lawless secret police organization whose primary role is to terrorize our communities. When Democrats regain power our first step must be to abolish ICE and completely restructure justice and policing systems at the federal level to be sure no future president has access to a secret police organization so easily brought under his or her control. But for now, Democrats MUST refuse to be complicit in funding a lawless, murderous organization. If that requires a shutdown, it requires a shutdown - and not one that should end without a clear victory against this lawless reign of terror.
