Ohio's budget does not invest in our children. You're failing our kids.

Columbus City Schools is closing down four school buildings due to budget cuts and students and programs will move to other buildings. The Board of Education voted on closures last week as part of cutting $50 million from the district’s budget. They had to cut this from the budget because the Ohio legislature and governor both don't appropriately value education, which is our children's future. One school building, Fairwood Alternative Elementary, will be shut down after the current school year. Como Elementary, Duxberry Arts Impact Elementary and Everett Middle School, which currently hosts the Columbus Gifted Academy, will all close after the 2026-2027 school year. Parents said this is a huge change. On top of that, they said there is no plan for where their students will actually go to school instead. It’s frustrating; I can definitely tell you it’s frustrating. You have to go from your child going to this school, now they have to make a transition to go to a different school and then, on top of that, you don’t know what school they’re going to be going to. It’s just up in limbo right now. We spend our tax dollars on so many things that are frivolous or generally a waste of money and then we have nothing left over for what matters. You need to fix the budget right now. Ohio should be investing in our children's futures!! Do better.
