I do not in any way support the governor and “Health” secretary’s announcement today stating that there will be no vaccination requirements for school children. This is a public safety nightmare. Additionally, it seems particularly ill advised for Florida. We have a lot (less now because of the political climate) of tourism bringing in a lot of germs. We have a lot of retirees who may be medically fragile. We have not expanded Medicaid and have a high uninsured population, which will only get higher because of Trump’s cuts to public health and affordable care act subsidies. This will cause children to get sick with more things, citizens to die, and taxpayers will get to pay for the sick uninsured ER visits. It’s expensive even if you don’t care about people being sick or dying.
