I am writing to urge you to vote NO on any legislation that would fund expanded deportation operations. Our communities need protection from policies that tear families apart and create widespread fear among our neighbors.
Mass deportation programs destabilize entire communities, not just those directly targeted. When immigration enforcement ramps up, children miss school, workers stay home, and local economies suffer. Small businesses lose customers and employees. Crime goes unreported because witnesses fear contact with authorities. These enforcement operations make everyone in our community less safe, not more.
The human cost is devastating. Families are separated with no regard for how long they have lived here, their ties to the community, or the American citizen children left behind. People who have built lives here for decades, paid taxes, and contributed to our neighborhoods face removal to countries they barely remember. This is not justice.
Funding deportation forces at this scale also represents a massive misallocation of resources. These operations cost billions of dollars that could address actual community needs like affordable housing, healthcare, education, and infrastructure. Instead, this money would go toward breaking up families and creating chaos in communities across the country.
I am asking you to stand firm against this funding. Do not enable policies that will harm constituents in your district. Vote NO on any appropriations that expand deportation operations. Our communities deserve better than living under the threat of family separation and the erosion of trust between neighbors.
Your constituents are watching how you vote on this issue. I need to know that you will protect our community by opposing this funding.
