I am writing to you because I am becoming increasingly frustrated by your silence while Russell Vought, Scott Bessent, and this administration continue to dismantle federal agencies, undermine federal employees, and inflict completely unnecessary harm on the people who keep our government functioning. The latest example is the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Russell Vought unilaterally rejected a negotiated compensation agreement with the National Treasury Employees Union, canceled pending salary increases and bonuses, and eliminated CFPB specific dental and vision benefits. The dispute has now gone to arbitration. This is not simply about a paycheck. It is about whether federal employees can rely on negotiated agreements, collective bargaining, and basic workplace protections. It is about whether political appointees can simply decide that agreements they do not like no longer matter. And this is happening while the CFPB itself has already lost hundreds of employees. The agency has proposed cutting approximately half of its remaining workforce, even though the agency has sufficient resources to continue performing its statutory responsibilities at current staffing levels. How much destruction are you willing to watch before you decide to stand up? Federal employees are not political pawns. They are Americans who go to work every day to serve the public. They have families, mortgages, medical bills, and lives outside of their jobs. They should not have to live under constant fear that their pay, benefits, collective bargaining rights, or careers can be taken away because an administration has decided to dismantle the agencies where they work. This administration has repeatedly attacked federal agencies, attempted to strip federal employees of collective bargaining protections, pushed mass reductions in force, and treated career public servants as obstacles rather than people who have dedicated their careers to serving this country. So I am asking you directly: Why aren’t you standing up to Russell Vought? Why aren’t you standing up to Scott Bessent and this administration? Why aren’t you using your position in Congress to demand accountability when federal agencies are being deliberately weakened and federal employees are being subjected to unprecedented uncertainty and intimidation? And perhaps most importantly, why aren’t you standing up for your constituents who are federal employees? If you care even a little about the people you represent, now is the time to show it. You cannot tell your constituents that you support them while remaining silent as their agencies are dismantled and their livelihoods are threatened. You cannot claim to care about government efficiency while allowing experienced employees to be driven out, critical programs to be weakened, and institutional knowledge to disappear. There is a difference between making government more efficient and deliberately destroying the institutions responsible for protecting the American public. The CFPB exists to protect consumers from abusive and deceptive financial practices. Weakening it does not just hurt federal employees. It hurts the American people who depend on the government to protect them from powerful financial institutions. Congress has a responsibility to provide oversight. I am asking you to use that responsibility. Stand up to Russell Vought. Demand accountability from this administration. Defend federal employees and their collective bargaining rights. Protect the agencies that Congress created to serve the American people. And stop sitting silently on the sidelines while these institutions are systematically weakened. Your constituents deserve to know where you stand. If you believe this administration is acting appropriately, then say so publicly and explain why. If you believe what is happening is wrong, then do something about it. Silence is not leadership. At this point, I am asking you to demonstrate that you are willing to stand up for the people you were elected to represent rather than simply stand by while this administration continues to dismantle the federal government.
