Ensure due process for Kilmar Abrego Garcia's case

To: Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody, Rep. Patronis

From: A constituent in Navarre, FL

April 28

The removal and imprisonment of Kilmar Abrego Garcia in El Salvador appears to be an egregious violation of due process and human rights. Despite a court order requiring his return to the United States, the Trump administration has failed to facilitate his release from a Salvadoran prison, where he was mistakenly deported. This gross miscarriage of justice calls for immediate rectification. Abrego Garcia deserves to have his case properly adjudicated through the American legal system, as guaranteed by the Constitution. Denying him this fundamental right erodes the rule of law and sets a dangerous precedent of arbitrary detention without due process. Regardless of unproven allegations against him, he is entitled to a fair hearing and robust legal representation. I urge you to take decisive action to ensure Abrego Garcia's prompt return to U.S. custody and reinstatement of his legal proceedings. Safeguarding judicial integrity and upholding human rights must be paramount priorities. Abrego Garcia's continued unlawful imprisonment tarnishes America's commitment to justice and democratic values. Resolute leadership is needed to right this wrong and restore faith in the impartial administration of the law.
